Malaysia’s First Smart POS with Integrated Payment Solutions

Fintech startup Qashier has today announced the launch of its latest smart point-of-sale (POS) terminal, QashierXS. The lightweight, but full-function QashierXS is a true all-in-one POS solution, integrating all payment methods and POS software in a single form factor. QashierXS’ launch is in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day, and small and medium enterprises here can seamlessly digitalise their businesses with the solution.

Since setting up offices in Malaysia in August 2021, Qashier has successfully onboarded over 1,000 merchants, and that number is projected to double by end 2022 as it expands its support network across the country.

“We’re extremely excited to bring our new smart POS solution QashierXS to SMEs in Malaysia. Qashier provides the technology and tools commonly used by large corporations, and makes it affordable and accessible to small merchants, empowering them to thrive in today’s digital economy,” said Christopher Choo, CEO and co-founder of Qashier.

About QashierXS

Weighing less than 500grams, QashierXS is the company’s lightest terminal, and the first in the Malaysia market to have both POS and payment solutions within one device – accepting cash, credit cards, e-wallets and wireless payment. Designed to be the easiest POS for SMEs to pick-up and use, QashierXS allows SMEs to fit their business right in their pocket.

From the portable QashierX1, the larger, powerful QashierXL, the new QashierXS, and software-only POS solutions, Qashier’s range of solutions provide flexibility and choice to Malaysian merchants.

Qashier’s POS solutions were developed to scale with small and medium enterprises throughout their digitalisation journey. Available to merchants are a full suite of apps to manage sales data, QR ordering, manage inventory, staff, and customer relations to name just a few.

The QashierStories

One such Malaysian merchant is Kaloori Truck with its mobile business concept, which is currently using both QashierX1 and QashierXL for both its food truck and physical store.

Five years of operation, Kaloori Truck found Qashier to be the most cost-efficient option after using several other POS systems before.

“Processes are easier with QashierXL, because of integrated features such as inventory management, sales report, staff check-in and check-out. It’s a more systematic process for receiving orders and getting them out,” said En. Ikhwan, the owner of Kaloori Truck.

Sin An Medical Treatment, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) specialist based in Selangor, found QashierXL Smart POS terminal easy to operate right through to the sale, using the solution to track commissions for employees, as well as tracking monthly sales reports, and managing inventory across multiple locations.

Aryaerna, a family-run home grown fashion label founded in 2010 utilises QashierX1 POS system in four outlets. “I like how the cloud-based system allows me to access sales data anytime, anywhere, which saves us a lot of time and hassle,” said Pija, the co-founder.

Empowering SMEs

“Regardless of their size or tenure, each business that we help through the implementation of our technology is an achievement we take pride in. This forms the very basis of our purpose – to empower Malaysian SMEs to build a thriving business in today’s new economy,” said Alex Leong, Head of Solutions for Qashier Malaysia.

QashierPay, Qashier’s payment terminal is another solution Malaysian merchants can implement. Through QashierPay, SMEs accept all payment modes from cash, credit/debit cards to wireless payment such as ApplePay and SamsungPay, as well as popular e-wallets such as Touch ‘n Go, Maybank QRPay and GrabPay.

Malaysia is the second market the venture-backed startup has entered. The expansion comes in the wake of a US$4.7m fundraise in November 2021 by Exor Seeds, the technology-focused venture arm of Exor.

Further expansion in the region is already in motion as Qashier grows its headcount in its Singapore headquarters, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
