Treats: What Qashier POS's New Shop CRM Does for You

Mention CRM for shops — customer relationship management — and most people think of a system for managing the relationship between a business and its customers. There are plenty of kinds: systems for following up with customers, systems for gathering customer data, and systems for strengthening the bond between a business and the people who buy from it.

A points scheme is itself part of CRM, and a type of loyalty programme, because it is designed to deepen customers' loyalty to a business. A shop with a good loyalty programme that is easy to use gets more out of its CRM, because it feeds more customer information into the database — and it lifts sales at the same time.

So what kinds of loyalty programme are there?
As customers ourselves, most of us have come across several kinds of loyalty programme. They fall into five main types:
1. Points schemes – earn points when you buy, and exchange them for a discount or a free product.
2. Membership tiers – reward customers according to how much they spend; the higher the tier, the better the privileges.
3. Cashback – get a percentage of the purchase back, either as cash or as store credit.
4. Membership schemes – customers sign up as members to receive privileges, discounts or special services.
5. Privilege schemes – give customers a privilege whenever they meet a particular condition.

All five can be combined, depending on what fits — the shop's own approach and what its customers want.

Loyalty programmes tend to be complicated and fiddly in themselves, though, which is why the ones people like using are often not built into the POS systems on offer. Shops end up buying a separate system from another supplier, which makes getting help awkward when something goes wrong, because the two do not come from the same place.

So Qashier set about building a new kind of loyalty programme that runs directly on the Qashier POS terminal, and makes life easier for shop and customer alike.

That system is Treats — Qashier's new loyalty programme and shop CRM.

Treats is a new kind of CRM that runs on the Qashier POS terminal. It does a number of things that let shops run a livelier loyalty programme than before.

What can Treats do?

1. Points collected by scanning a QR code

Points are usually collected by stamping a customer's loyalty card, or by having them show a membership card or quote a membership number. The weakness is obvious: a customer who has left the card at home or forgotten the number misses out, or a member of staff has to step in and sort it out.

Switch to Treats and customers can collect points by scanning a QR code at the bottom of the receipt, which means they can claim their points whenever it suits them, with no card to carry — their phone is all they need.

2. Signing up is easy for customers
Shops naturally want customers to join up, so they can offer privileges that bring them back often and build a customer database. But customers often give up halfway through signing up, because the process is fiddly and asks for too much information.

With Qashier Treats, your customers can sign up to collect points in moments: all it takes is a phone number and an OTP. There is no password to set, and for a new customer the first scan of the QR code takes them straight to the registration page automatically. It is far easier for them, fewer people drop out halfway, and more of them end up joining.

What is more, a customer who has signed up to Treats before does not need to sign up again, which is easier still — and they can join with confidence, because neither Treats nor the shops that use it store any of their personal information.

3. Easy for customers to spend points, easy for staff too
As well as easy sign-up and easy point collection, spending points is simple. The customer just gives the phone number they registered with, and their reward is applied.

4. Let customers turn their points into a cash discount
Give customers better value and a better impression: they can put the points they have collected towards a discount on their next visit, at whatever exchange rate you choose. You might set 10 THB spent to earn 1 point, with every 10 points worth 1 THB off. Customers who have signed up to Treats see that same exchange rate on their own screen.

5. A new kind of shop CRM, built into the POS terminal

Neither shop nor customer needs an app, extra software or extra hardware. Collecting and spending points both happen on Qashier POS, and customers can check their balance on the Treats web app from a phone or a computer.

6. Plenty more for shops and customers

On top of all that, a shop using Treats gets more than an improved loyalty programme. In future, shops on Treats will be listed in "Qashier Explorer", a new Qashier feature launching later on, which will let customers search for the shops that use Treats — so new customers have a chance of finding you.
