How to Lift Shop Sales by Taking Your Business to Events

It has to be said that in business today, selling through a single channel may no longer be enough. “Taking your business to events” is therefore an option worth considering, and a way to lift your shop’s sales. Beyond the takings themselves, it builds awareness and leaves an impression on the people walking past, who may well become customers before long. Making your booth memorable is not only about the decoration and the promotions, though: add something that genuinely makes life easier, such as a POS terminal built for events, and you can be confident that a great many more customers will stop and take an interest.

Every kind of event really can lift a shop’s sales

It is worth explaining first that there is an enormous variety of events open to a business, from exhibitions and trade fairs for showing off your products through to simply setting up a booth at a weekend market or on a walking street, which is another way to advertise and take money at the same time. Try techniques such as tastings and promotions — discounts, free extras — as well as modern kit such as a POS terminal for booths, and drawing everyone’s interest is not hard at all.

Getting your shop ready before the event

1. Assess whether the location suits you

“Location” here falls into two broad categories. The first is the location of the event itself: it should be easy to get to, and you should weigh up the costs of transporting everything and the length of the event to see whether it is worth the investment. The second is where your booth sits within the event. If it is tucked away in a quiet corner where people cannot really see it, or somewhere nobody walks past, hitting your target will be difficult.

2. When to take part

Plenty of shops want to lift sales by taking part in events without giving much thought to the timing. In fact, Qashier would suggest running a booth at times when the shop itself is quiet — weekdays, for instance — so that you are not losing customers for no good reason. If you do have to run a booth at the weekend, we would suggest finding people to help: split into two teams, one at the shop and one looking after the booth, so no channel is missed, and you make the very best use of your quieter periods.

3. The nature of the event

Something else to think about is the nature of the event, together with an assessment of how likely the people attending are to become your customers. If it is a local food event and you sell ordinary desserts, then even though it is a food fair overall, the people attending may not be your core audience, and you will have spent money and time for no good reason.

4. Take a proper helper to the booth or event: a POS terminal

If you have weighed it all up and everything fits, then beyond laying out an attractive booth, printing brochures and the rest, we would suggest adding one more proper helper, namely a POS terminal for events As well as making buying and selling quick — however packed it gets, there is nothing to worry about, customers pay easily and the shop takes the money smoothly, with QR PromptPay supported — it comes with a great many other features besides.
