With the old year behind us and a new one beginning, it is time to look back over everything that happened and everything Qashier achieved in the past year. Qashier raises 10 million USD in Series A funding
In August 2023 Qashier raised 10 million US dollars in a Series A round led by Delivery Hero Ventures and IFP Securities. The round lets Qashier accelerate its growth in South East Asia and prepare to expand into new overseas markets such as Australia, and it strengthens Qashier's circle and network considerably.
Qashier now has four offices across South East Asia: Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. The funding will let Qashier plan and keep investing in research and development, so it can bring innovative solutions to businesses in more regions still.
Launching the Qashier POS app: take your business anywhere
In February 2023 Qashier launched the Qashier POS app, a shop management POS application that outlets can use free or pay for, built to support small and medium businesses. It lets anyone run their business easily, with a straightforward screen and system, on an Android device.
When the app first appeared on the Google Play Store the response was overwhelming: more than 12,000 downloads within three days.
More coverage in the media
Qashier picked up more media coverage in 2023, with both founders appearing to share their insight into fintech.
Christopher Choo appeared on a number of well-known outlets, including the Breakfast Show on MoneyFM 89.3 in Singapore, where he spoke about how Qashier began; he talked about the Qashier app on a Malaysian business programme on BFM 89.9; and he discussed supporting SMEs on CNA938.
Franklin Zhao, meanwhile, was invited onto the popular Malaysian radio programme MelodyFM to give his view on the growth of contactless payment in the country and how Qashier supports SMEs with quality solutions.
There was one more exciting piece of news this year: Christopher Choo was named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list. It is a remarkable achievement, and proof both of his nerve as an entrepreneur and of the impact Qashier has had on fintech.
Qashier and events
Over the past year Qashier has been a game changer at events of many kinds, providing solutions that cover the whole business and tailoring the parts of them to suit each outlet. That took Qashier POS to events across several regions, among them Chatuchak Night Market, GastroBeats 2023, Brewnanza Fest and the SHEIN Holiday Pop-Up in Singapore, and Wanderland Music & Arts Festival 2023 in the Philippines.

Qashier was also at the centre of a number of industry trade shows, exhibiting its latest POS and smart payment innovations. The shows Qashier attended this year included Smart SME Expo, Franchise SME Expo and the ASEAN Cafe & Bakery Show in Thailand, and the Franchise Asia Expo in the Philippines.
At these shows we demonstrated the POS in use and pointed thousands of SMEs across South East Asia towards the right tools for them, widening our reach into more industries and giving merchants and Qashier's specialists the chance to meet and talk.
Partnering to support SME growth in the Philippines
Qashier recently joined forces with Mustard Seed Systems Corporation (MSSC) and Slash Tech Solutions Corporation (STSC) to drive strategic growth and efficiency for the Philippines' micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through innovative digital solutions.
Both partnerships, which began between October and November 2023, underline how far Qashier's reach now extends across the Philippine islands through MSSC and STSC, offering business solutions that are both modern and good value.
