Let's look at where Boulder Planet Thailand came from and what sets it apart — and how Qashier became the POS for gyms that keeps the place running smoothly.
If you like keeping fit and are after something new to stretch out and get moving, but going outdoors to play a sport doesn't quite fit your life, a climbing gym may be the answer. And when it comes to indoor climbing gyms, Boulder Planet is one of the first names that springs to mind for anyone who loves the sport — a well-known brand out of Singapore that has now opened in Thailand. This is its third gym, after the first two in Singapore, and it sits in the Zpell zone at Future Park Rangsit.
Boulder Planet's aim is to get more people engaging with nature, seeing why it matters, and helping to protect and conserve what nature gives us — while enjoying one of those gifts, namely climbing. Climbing began as a sport that puts the athlete in close contact with the natural world and lets them live alongside it completely, and that same feeling carries over to the artificial walls at Boulder Planet.
What makes Boulder Planet stand out is that it offers two kinds of wall:
Type 1: top rope with auto-belay
Top rope with auto-belay means climbing with an automatic belay device attached to the climber. It is a safe way to climb, and children and adults alike can enjoy the artificial wall, because the auto-belay acts as a safety line holding the climber up. When a climber has had enough and wants to come down, they can lower themselves safely.
Type 2: bouldering
Bouldering means climbing with nothing but your hands — no rope or belay device attached. The climber works their way up from hold to hold to the top, then climbs back down. These walls are not especially high, and there are mats on the floor below for safety.
For both kinds of climbing, Boulder Planet has staff on hand to coach you and offer advice.
There are plenty of options for customers, too: day passes, single sessions or monthly memberships, so you can pick whatever suits your lifestyle and schedule. The gym also sells the kit you need, such as climbing shoes, chalk and chalk bags.
All of which means the till and front-of-house system at Boulder Planet has to be up to the job of handling customers signing up for sessions and buying kit at the same counter. A POS that is nimble, makes taking payment straightforward and is easy to use is essential.
So Qashier POS turned out to be the right fit, and Boulder Planet chose Qashier's system along with the QashierX1 terminal for that extra bit of flexibility.
What is special about the QashierX1 is that it works both on the counter and in the hand, so when a customer calls the staff over they can simply pick the QashierX1 up and serve them where they are.
Qashier POS also supports PromptPay, and includes Dynamic QR payments, where the customer simply scans and the amount appears straight away. There is nothing for them to key in, and the payment is confirmed automatically, so staff don't have to waste time photographing slips to keep on file. It cuts the time it takes to serve someone and makes the whole thing far easier.
And used alongside the QashierX1, which has two screens, the QR appears on the customer-facing side as soon as the sale is rung up, so the customer can scan and pay on the spot.
