Although Phase 2 of Khon La Khrueng Plus for merchants has not been officially announced yet, merchants can currently register to join Khon La Khrueng Plus until 19 December 2025, either at the Ministry of Interior booths run jointly with Krungthai Bank or at any Krungthai Bank branch. Why merchants should join Khon La Khrueng
Joining the scheme helps merchants lift sales, because customers prefer to spend at shops that take part. Merchants can also accept digital payments through the government's designated app, which cuts down on change-handling problems and makes the whole sales process smoother.
Merchants who took part in Khon La Khrueng Phase 5 and already met the scheme's criteria are considered registered merchants. They simply need to update the Thung Ngern app, tap the Khon La Khrueng Plus button and accept the terms to join straight away. New merchants, or merchants who cannot find the Khon La Khrueng Plus button, can apply by following the scheme's conditions.
Businesses eligible to join include food, drink and general goods shops owned by Thai nationals, as well as massage, spa, nail and hair salon operators who are Thai nationals and meet the scheme's other requirements.
What merchants should prepare before applying
To keep the application moving quickly, merchants should have the following information and documents ready.
- The shop owner's Thai national ID card
- A Krungthai Bank passbook
- Photographs of the shop showing that it is genuinely trading
- A mobile phone that can run the Thung Ngern merchant app
