Qashier, the Singapore-based provider and distributor of POS shop management systems, has launched Dynamic QR Payment, a new payment system that makes scan-to-pay at the counter more convenient and more secure than before — raising the standard of shop management and keeping pace with Thailand’s fast-changing digital economy.
A report by the Bank of Thailand shows that Thai consumers have shifted increasingly towards digital payments, and scan-to-pay by PromptPay in particular. The latest figures show 77.2 million registered PromptPay IDs in 2023, with an average of 54.5 million transfers a day across the year — and the trend continues to rise.
Shops therefore have to adapt to how consumers now behave and take more of their money by QR. Most shops normally take payment with a Static QR code, transferring straight into a PromptPay account: the customer scans the QR code the shop has put out, keys in the amount due, and taps to transfer it to the shop’s account.
Plenty of shops, though, run into problems with this kind of scan-to-pay — customers keying in the wrong amount, fraudsters using fake transfer slips, staff forgetting to check that the transfer has landed, and so on. Shops lose money as a result, and service slows down because of the time spent checking the slips customers show them.

What is Dynamic QR, how does it work, and how does it improve the way a shop is run?
A dynamic payment QR code, or Dynamic QR Payment, differs from a Static QR or ordinary QR code: a Dynamic QR is generated afresh by the system every time, with the amount built into it. When the shop rings up a sale on the Qashier POS system, a new QR code is generated on screen, and when the customer scans it the amount they owe appears in their app immediately. They do not have to key the amount in themselves, and they cannot change it — so the shop can be confident that the amount paid is exactly right.

Importantly, once the customer taps to transfer, the system checks the amount, and when that check is done the Qashier POS system records the transaction and tells the printer to print a receipt straight away. That means that the moment the receipt comes out, the payment is complete — so the shop does not have to waste time checking transfer slips.
In short, using Dynamic QR raises the standard of how shops take payment and speeds up each transaction — and, importantly, the fee charged per transaction is low too.
