Hi, my name is Diane.\u00a0<\/span>I’m the owner of Flourish Bakehouse,\u00a0<\/span>we’ve been open since October 2021.

<\/span>When we opened in October,\u00a0<\/span>that\u2019s when we really onboarded Qashier\u00a0<\/span>and we started using it since then.\u00a0<\/span>It was actually from a friend\u00a0<\/span>who currently uses Qashier.

<\/span>We were sourcing for different POS systems\u00a0<\/span>but when I saw his Qashier POS system\u00a0<\/span>I was quite blown away by how sleek it was,\u00a0<\/span>compared to a lot of the other solutions that we saw.\u00a0

<\/span>I would say opening a bakery has always been\u00a0<\/span>a retirement goal of mine.\u00a0<\/span>When Covid started,\u00a0<\/span>I was taking a sabbatical leave from my previous job,\u00a0<\/span>which was an auditor.\u00a0<\/span>And during that time,\u00a0<\/span>I started baking,\u00a0<\/span>I started selling online.\u00a0<\/span>And then I started\u00a0<\/span>supplying to my friend\u2019s cafe.

So the operation just slowly\u00a0<\/span>like progressively scaled up.\u00a0<\/span>And I guess when I found this space,\u00a0<\/span>that’s when I started\u00a0<\/span>considering this a lot more seriously.\u00a0<\/span>And that’s when Flourish started.<\/span>

<\/span>I think very fundamentally\u00a0<\/span>I wanted Flourish to be an extension of home.\u00a0<\/span>So I wanted people to feel comfortable\u00a0<\/span>when they’re here.\u00a0<\/span>To provide a different environment\u00a0<\/span>where they can hang out with their families or with,\u00a0<\/span>I guess, their furry friends.

<\/span>The other thing is, aspiring to offer\u00a0<\/span>a different selection of bakes\u00a0<\/span>that would be different from what you can find elsewhere.\u00a0I’m definitely a home-learned baker\u00a0<\/span><\/span>so I don\u2019t have any kind of credentials or accreditation.

<\/span>But I think when you have passion for something,\u00a0<\/span>you really go all out in terms of research,\u00a0<\/span>experimenting with flavours,\u00a0<\/span>with different techniques and different types of dishes.

<\/span>So the three signatures\u00a0<\/span>would be the Cheddar Corn,\u00a0<\/span>the Apple Galette,\u00a0<\/span>as well as the Banana Bread.\u00a0

<\/span>So the Cheddar Corn,\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s a savoury muffin.\u00a0<\/span>So it’s got hints of garlic…\u00a0<\/span>corn…\u00a0<\/span>It’s got a bit of parsley as well.

<\/span>The other thing would be our Apple Galette.\u00a0<\/span>So that is essentially\u00a0<\/span>a very buttery pastry\u00a0<\/span>that encases some spiced apples.\u00a0<\/span>And we’ve got a salted caramel glaze\u00a0<\/span>topped with some thyme.

<\/span>And then the last one\u00a0<\/span>was the banana bread.\u00a0<\/span>So that’s actually my mom’s recipe.\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s slightly different to\u00a0<\/span>most banana breads I\u2019ve had in Singapore.\u00a0<\/span>I think the Asian style\u00a0<\/span>banana bread is slightly fluffier,\u00a0<\/span>more like a cake-like texture.\u00a0<\/span>So this one’s more dense.\u00a0<\/span>It’s more,\u00a0<\/span>I guess, reminiscent\u00a0<\/span>of the Australian type of banana bread.

<\/span>We started using Qashier actually from the start.\u00a0<\/span>It doesn’t take us long\u00a0<\/span>to train our staff to use it.\u00a0<\/span>And I think just it being a very sleek\u00a0<\/span>and portable machine\u00a0<\/span>is something that we all love.\u00a0Yeah, because we do have a window\u00a0<\/span>where we take orders from as well.\u00a0<\/span>So just having something that is portable\u00a0<\/span>and easy to bring around has been great.

<\/span><\/span>The fact that a lot of the payments can be all condensed\u00a0<\/span>into the device itself,\u00a0<\/span>rather than us having like multiple QR codes everywhere.\u00a0<\/span>I think that’s been super helpful.\u00a0<\/span>I think from the customer experience point of view also,\u00a0<\/span>that’s been great as well.\u00a0<\/span>Yeah.\u00a0<\/span>So the fact that the QR code\u00a0<\/span>just appears when you’re about to pay,\u00a0<\/span>it just makes it so much more user-friendly and seamless.

<\/span>So I’ve never had goals for it to have\u00a0<\/span>multiple outlets in Singapore.\u00a0<\/span>I’ve always wanted it to be\u00a0<\/span>it being just\u00a0<\/span>like a one and only place.\u00a0<\/span>I mean at the moment the aspirations is for it\u00a0<\/span>to continue being a conducive environment\u00a0<\/span>for the customers to come through.
